The short version

HabitGraph works without an account. In that mode your habits never leave your device and there is no server involved at all. If you choose to create an account, your habits are stored so they can be backed up and synced, and nothing else about you is collected.

Using it without an account

Your habits, completions, notes, categories and settings are written to local storage in your browser, or to the app's own storage on your phone. They stay on that device. They are not transmitted, not backed up, and not readable by us.

Because the data lives only on the device, clearing your browsing data, uninstalling the app, or switching to a different browser or phone will remove it. There is no copy for us to restore. If your history matters to you, either export it regularly or create an account.

If you create an account

An account stores only what the product needs to work:

  • Your email address and a hashed password. The password itself is never stored.
  • Your display name and, if you write one, your bio.
  • Your habits, completions, notes, categories and settings.
  • Session records, each holding a device description and timestamps, so you can see where you are signed in and sign a device out.

When you sign in on a device that already has local habits, you are asked what to keep. Nothing is uploaded, merged or deleted until you choose.

What is not collected

There is no advertising, no third-party analytics, no tracking pixels and no data sharing or sale. Your habit data is not used to train anything. No location, contacts, photos, health records or device identifiers are collected.

Notifications

Reminders are scheduled locally on your device by the operating system. Their contents are not sent through a push server, and permission is requested only when you turn a reminder on.

Your control

  • Export everything as JSON or CSV at any time, with or without an account.
  • Delete your account from Settings. This removes your profile, habits and history from the server permanently and is not reversible.
  • Sign out of individual devices, or all of them at once, from the Devices section in Settings.
  • Remove local data by clearing site data for this domain in your browser, or by uninstalling the app.

Children

HabitGraph is not directed at children under 13, and accounts are not knowingly created for them.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected, the date above is updated and the change is noted in the app. For any question about your data, contact Rojan Acharya through the address listed on https://habitgraph.rojanacharya.com.
